Lev (Leon) GUNIN LICENSE TO KILL
Tuesday, October the 2nd, 2007, on my bicycle, I was going home, to Augustin-Cantin in Pointe- St-Charles,
from my mother, who’s residing at Lemieux, near Victoria and Côte-Ste-Catherine. I know that when I left my mother’s
home, it was assumingly 10 to 21:00. The distance between the 2 homes is
probably 10-15 km, but the way from my home to my mom is more difficult for
bicyclists, as they have to go up the hill all the time, with almost no break, and
some segments are really sharp and steep. Apparently around 21:10 (I had no watch on
my wrist), I was hit by a new looking white car 988 PPH (Quebec plate), while
crossing small streets like Jacques-Grenier, Ponsard,
Saranac, Dalou, Snowdon, or Byron, which Decarie cut off here. Here are the details of this incident. Because I am very afraid of the cars, instead of Decarie road, I was moving along the pavement (east side walk): direction south-east. Usually, there are almost no pedestrians by that time, and I`m aware of this. Besides, I ride my bike very carefully, trying not to scare, or insult pedestrians, and I never run near them, or cross their way. Because of the fear of cars, I always make a full stop before crossing any street, even the smallest, like Jacques-Grenier. That time it was no exclusion. I stopped, looking around. Normally, I descend my bike, and cross any street on foot, carrying the bike with me. Unfortunately, or fortunately (depending how to see it) that time I didn’t follow my habits, and was ready to cross a small street in the saddle. The car that hit me was standing without movement not too close to Decarie road, maybe 0,5 meter before the `stop` sign, waiting for a column of cars at Decarie to pass. I decided not to wait longer but to move because:
1) it was no gap between vehicles at Decarie, so the 988 PPH car couldn’t turn right yet; 2) driver’s window was open, and he glanced in my direction: a sign that he’s seeing me; 3)
just `in case`, I decided to make an opposite to
U movement in front of the standing car, to ensure for the driver and myself
distance and time for maneuvering. Then something terrible happened. With a
considerable acceleration and on considerable speed the powerful car pulled
forward, directly at me, leaving no time for escape. Instinctively, I pushed away
the bike, and jumped on car’s hood (the wrapper) and windshield, and then, in
an astonishing acrobatic trick, from there to the ground, landing on my both
feet. Seeing me just in front of his car, before hitting me, the driver had
enough time and room to slam on the brakes, but did not do it. Even after
hitting me, he would just run, but was stopped by the traffic on Decarie. I
mean that he ran directly at me seconds AFTER my full and clear appearance
exactly in front of his car (across trajectory of intended movement), and I
hovered over because a) I’m intentionally crossing streets slowly, seeing an
element of safety here; b) I was just taking off, plus - going up the hill; c)
it is possible that I intuitively hesitated 2-3 seconds, feeling something and
expecting the car taking off straight, not across - as it happened. I shouted to the driver’s open window in
French: “Qu’est-ce que vous faites!” - 3 times, seeing that he has no intention
to get out of his car. Maybe because of the potential witnesses (several cars
on Decarie slowed down), and because I flicked out a pen and a piece of paper,
writing down car’s registration number, he finally got out from his vehicle, a
short jimp young man in his 30-s, and asked me ‘est-ce
que ça va?’. “Ça va pas” - I responded (showing
that I’m not completely untouched by the impact). After being hit by a car
you’re not supposed to walk away unharmed. After such a spectacular “fly” it
was only natural to suspect broken bones, internal bleedings, and so on. Instead
of asking me if I need help *, he started to justify his actions: “Je regardais
seulement à gauche, je suivais
les voitures. Il m'était
inutile de tourner la tête à droite, et je ne vous voyais pas du tout. Jamais dans ma vie je frappe les gens”. His claim was incorrect,
as I noted him glancing at least once at me before we both made a move. I didn’t
make this thought vocal: another idea stroke me at the moment. Switching into English (because
he spoke with an English accent) I said: “But the fact that you were looking
exclusively to the right, watching just the cars, and ignoring pedestrians,
skaters, boardists, or bicyclists, is completely sick. It’s wrong! You must
always check the pedestrians on your way, not just cars. Secondly, why, clearly
seeing me on your way, you didn’t slam the brakes, continuing to run on me?
And, besides, what maneuver did you want to perform, if a column of cars was
still blocking your way to Decarie?” In respond, he started
accusing me: “Because on bike, you were moving faster then a pedestrian, and
this is why it all happened”. It was both incorrect and dishonest. While taking
off after a full stop, and - plus - going up the hill, I was moving even slower
then most of the pedestrians. Seeing that I was wearing a helmet (a casket) he attacked
me for having no lights. “Here is my rear red flashlight; now I’m holding it in
my hand because it was broken on impact”. (By this time I pulled my fallen
bicycle from the road to the sidewalk). Then he accused me of having no front
light, and claimed that all that happened was only my own fault. I expressed my
point of view: “This was in result of your irresponsibility, dangerous driving
style, and habit to ignore pedestrians and bicyclists”. I almost shouted this,
and promised to make a report to police. After such a tirade I did not dare to respond
to his last claim; besides, now he was ready to take his driver seat. In
reality, the “front light”, which was attached to my left arm, fell down - and now
was lost somewhere in vain. My last remark about the incident: only
when the car left, I realized, looking back to the scene, that the driver hit
me practically on last inches of the pavement (sidewalk), or very near, while
abruptly turning right and cutting the edge. I consider such a move illegal and
dangerous. If the driver did not hit me on purpose, then he must be not ready
to react properly because of his alienation to pedestrians. Such a move explains how and why I
underestimated the time left for me before the car is supposed to go: instead
of an “r”, such a driver performs an abrupt “/” turn from where he stands, to
place the car in the tail of the passing column. Such a maneuver completely
deprives pedestrians of safety.
* Trying to be as honest as possible, I can assume, that in a condition of a shock I has missed this or that phrase, or incorrectly interpreted those or other words. But, if to reject all theoretical conjectures, I do not remember any help offer.
4 comments. 1. The distance, separated me from the car, was not less then 1 meter (or even 1 m and 30 cm), that could assure driver’s reaction, but even at the moment of the impact he wasn’t slamming the brakes yet. If I was hit by car’s bumper (if on foot), I could be instantly killed. If I would not jump down to the ground at car’s right side, I could be knocked away to the busy Decarie road, and killed by the passing transport. The car was moving to the last instant forward Decarie, if exactly that was the driver’s intention. 2. By not descending from my bike while
crossing the street (even smallest) I have violated the rule, because the regulations
demand the opposite. At home, I realized that unusual pain and a
feeling of hardness and heaviness in my right ankle may indicate a serious
injury, and my wife drove me to an emergency of one of the hospitals. While
there, I demanded an x-ray of the veins, and young doctor, Judy, was agreed
with my demand. She examined my whole body very carefully, bone by bone, every
rotation and bending (by the way, she said that - besides English and French - she
speaks Hebrew). However, she was only a stager (or intern), and a senior
doctor, who came in later, just laughed (“ha-ha”); he told that an x-ray is not
needed, and recommended ice, rest and Tylenol. His name was Dr. Herskowitz, a typical
Jewish name. I reported the details of the incident to the emergency staff, and
asked to call the police, however, none of their staff manifested a will to
write down the car number, and they all said that a report to police is my
private affair. They refused to issue any paper to me, in spite of my demands. I
was told to appear in 2 days at outpatient’s clinic, and the time of the
appointment should be given by phone. Strangely enough, no bluishness, no
visual bruises showed up (and never showed up) at my legs, which scared me. At
the hospital, I demanded a short (at least) resume for my family doctor and me
about my trauma, but was denied. Without any visual signs of injuries and
without a paper from the hospital it was unreasonable to call the police. Again at home, I carefully examined my both
legs, and was even more frighten. I found signs of certain vascular damage: under
the skin and deeper there were a number of hursts or nodules, extremely painful on touch. The pain has concentrated
in those vascular varicose zones, and even 2 days later I was unable to walk without
enormous efforts and suffering. But the most worrying harden zones I found on
my right’s leg law calve (a superficial vein, which, probably, bared a blood
clot (thrombus), and a pimple (flaring, knobbing out of the skin) in the front
of my left leg, several centimeters down from the knee: both evoked extreme
pain on touch and on stepping on the leg. My understanding of its nature was that
it had to be a part of a burst vein. When trying to push this ample on left leg
inside, holding it for some time pressed, I suddenly (in 5 or 7 min.)
experienced an abrupt and striking heart pain, on the left side. Having no
medical background, I prefer not to speculate about the nature of this pain. At the hospital, I was given an appointment
with a family medicine doctor at outpatient’s clinic. On October the 5th, at 15:10, I was there, and was examined by Dr.
Rosenberg. I told her about increased pain and hardness, and my worries about
post-traumatic thrombus in superficial veins, and again demanded an ultrasound
“doppler” test on blood vessels. She did not directly deny this test, but said
that the only way to have it is to go back to emergency. It was a polite form
of a smart denial. Back in emergency room, I was examined by Dr.
Paraskevopoulos, and she quickly agreed to send me to an ultrasound test, which
had to be performed only next day. Saturday, November the 6th, I had such an
examination. Totally, I spent in the hospital more then 22 hours, waiting for
doctors and tests. A paper, finally issued to me after my persistent demands (the writing was unclear, almost unreadable; it took me some efforts to decipher it), said:
10/06/2007 ------ 12:34 ULTRA-SOUND ---> EMERGENCY No.
185 St.-Mary’s Hospital Center Haematoma in medial gastrocnemius muscle Thrombus in
Gveote Saphenous vein
Almost the worse of my suspicions have been
materialized. For my suffering and spending such long
hours in emergency and outpatient clinic (St.-Mary has the shortest waiting
period; in other hospitals ER clients wait 50-70 hours), the Canadian medicine has
not awarded me by even “a gram” of treatment, even half a pill. On a net forum
I’ve contacted a cardio-vascular specialist, who informed me after having my
diagnosis and symptoms, that in such post-trauma situations diagnostics time IS
a factor, and, if diagnosed in 1st 24 hours, I could be given a
treatment that deals with post-traumatic blood-clots, and other complications right
away, assuring full recovery and reducing its time. However, reacting to this
conclusion, I thought for myself that under Steven Harper’s rule even a right
diagnosis would not help, because the real medical help is reserved exclusively
to those most influential and rich. Should I now turn to police? Obviously, in the present-day Canada not just medicine, but the justice is also reserved exclusively for the wealthy and powerful citizens. I’m not aware of a single example when a driver, who killed a pedestrian because of negligent or rage, received a considerable prison term. In Montreal, you can kill a pedestrian: and go unpunished. Especially it is correct for the luxury vehicles owners. They and their money, and their lawyers will win their case in court, plus, they will issue a lawsuit against you for few scratches on their expensive car, demanding tenth of thousands of dollars, and laughing of all the charges that you lay against them. Present pro-Israeli and pro-US Canadian government, Canadian justice system, and the police put such scratches ahead of human life.
2. AN ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT? I will not even evaluate a version of an
assassination attempt. It’s completely useless, impossible to prove, and just a
waste of time. In my present position, unable to access private detectives, data
on the driver of the car, etc.: I’m not in the state of starting a serious
investigation. Consequently, without any insinuations or
speculations, I will just list some “ticking” facts, simply for my readers’ knowledge. Let me emphasize that if I was on foot or
on bicycle but did not jump on the car, getting a direct hit by car’s bumper, I
doubt if was now (or in general) writing anything. If someone would design a
plan to kill someone else, a way I was hit by the car was a perfect mean to
eliminate anyone unwanted, and it’s just my old body’s unexpected and amazing
instincts that saved me from much bigger troubles. In my opinion, next facts may be seen as
one casuistic line.
Shortly before we were forced to move from
McGill Ghetto to Pointe- St-Charles (end of 2005), I was hit by another car on
the same corner of Milton and Aylmer, going home from a Dépanneur.
This driver not just hit me, but shouted on me, accusing me of purposely crossing
the street too slowly, to try driver’s nerves. He hit me intentionally, punishing
me for an alleged, assumed action that had nothing to do with the manner, in
which I crossed the street. A year ago, I witnessed a deformed by anger
face of a driver in his mid-40-s, who was mad on a women with a child, crossing
the street not as fast as he wished, and a women, who shouted from her new Jeep
on elderly couple: “move faster, you isles! it’s your luck that I don’t have a
proper insurance policy”. One autumn day of December 2006, I was
crossing Notre-Dame Street,
near Jean-Cotue store after Atwater, on rolling blades. I waited for green light for pedestrians, and
started to move across the street. Completely ignoring my presence on the
pedestrians pass, cars from perpendicular street, performing a right turn,
started to move directly on me, as if I did not exist even as an object, not
just as a human being. They began to move AFTER I started to move, crossing my
way in such a violent positioning that I had nothing to do but to run through a
tiny gap between 2 cars, lost the balance, and crashed into hard plates of the
sidewalk. Amazingly, I walked away unharmed, and - also amazingly (only with a
different sense!) - cars on Notre-Dame simultaneously started to move on red,
blocking the pedestrians pass, and, if I decided to turn back, I would crush
into those cars. It should serve as a good lesson for me. If
after this frightening experience I ceased running on rolling blades and
biking, I would probably be healthier, and did not receive several quite
serious injuries. Certainly, I would not badly hit my hand, when somebody
splashed oil on my way, and the rolling blades went out of control, and maybe
could avoid my present injury. I learned how to ride a bicycle and run on
rolling blades after my 50-th birthday, never doing it before. It was a
compensative physical activity that I was desperately looking for: because of
up to 12 hours in front of my computers every day, demands of my mother, who
refuse a proposal to live with us, but wanted a “1st class” service
at home provided by my wife, and me, ignoring the distance between our homes,
our prostrative socio-economic situation, and so on, and because of the refusal
of medical help that I’m facing. In July, 2007, when I was crossing
Cote-St-Catherine Street from Lemieux, a new expensive car ran on the red on
high speed, slapping my shirt by its mirror, and the driver, a female in her
30-s, sneered at me from her window. If I stopped 5 cm. closer, she could
easily smash me down. Thursday, 10-th of May, 2007, a known to me
police car with no flashing lights ran on the sidewalk, so, that I had to make
a wild jump to avoid an impact, and violently stretched the tendon ligaments.
This incident opened a whole series of incidents with crashes and injuries,
when I was on rolling blades, bike, and simply on foot. I will not describe other numerous examples
of phenomenon like this, to avoid repetitions and tautologies (a nice calembour,
isn’t it?).
A bus driver, who’s denying 4 seniors’
claim that he not just refused to stop at the bus station, but splashed a heavy
shower of water on their faces and clothes; expensive cars’ owners that every
day kill or injure hundreds and thousands of pedestrians and bicyclists, often
speeding up on red light: they all commit their crimes in front of surveillance
cameras, and still go away unpunished. British prison guards that tortured, raped,
disgraced, mocked, and robber prisoners in Wormwood Scrubs, Wandsworth, and
other prisons (October 2006 Guardian); American prison guards - sadists - that
committed unspeakable crimes (Aby Kabir prison in Iraq); Canadian authorities
that tortured a dual Canadian-French citizen for (according to French press)
extorting her confession: all were committing their crimes in front of
surveillance cameras. When in Quebec a rich driver went off the road, and ran into a group of ordinary
youths, killing one and injuring others, and then fled the crime scene, with
the body of his dead or dying victim inside his car, he actually went away with
it unpunished. A wealthy lady that killed a child driving on red lights,
another lady that killed a senior pedestrian, and drivers that killed young bicyclists:
all could escape fair sentences. As 2 teen murderers in Vancouver, they were allowed to continue
killings. When dealt with accusations, WE have an
opposite tendency: altered, manipulated or forged by police and other
authorities, rich or the corporations, video data becomes the core of false
accusations. What advantages do all these “security cameras” give us? Why do we
have to pay for them? WE don’t need them. THEY need them against us. All these
“security measures”, security guards, police and undercovered in every corner
of our cities: they are to ensure injustice, and to protect wealthy and
powerful from people’s anger. When Peter M., crossing on green, was hit
by car, THEY claimed he was crossing on red. Refused compensation, Peter
suggested that his legal aid lawyer should obtain a security data from nearest
bank’s huge camera that dominates the intersection. The lawyer said - it is not
in his jurisdiction. When another person was killed by car, THEY claimed, he was guilty. Coming from the funeral, his widow discovered a legal letter, which ordered her to pay thousands of dollars of compensation for damage, caused by victim’s head impact. It was a luxury car.
Many of us see this bizarre discrimination
of pedestrians and cyclists as the most palpable indication of the growing
social injustice and political / security agencies tyranny. It is not a secret
that in Montreal a pedestrian
is an outlaw and “hunting season” on us (pedestrians) continues 12 months a
year. “Montreal drivers don't stop or even slow down for pedestrians,” states Sofitel’s
“Montreal Warnings or Dangers” (virtualtourist.com), and “(…) we do not stop
right under the traffic lights but right before the white street line, which is
way before the intersection! (...) we do not have it as a habit (although we
should) to stop at pedestrian yellow crossings lines...”, and “Montreal and New
York are the only cities in North America than you can turn right in the red
light.” At some intersections pedestrians are given
less then a second to cross the street, before a banning sign appears. Mayor Trembley’s
policy to put pedestrians out of law has manifested in a massive transformation
of sidewalks, safety islands and intersection into “pedestrian-free” zones.
Sidewalks around the Old Port of Montreal, Boulevard Goin, etc. were handed
over to bicyclists, while others - dedicated for cars parking. When bicyclists
received from the city special bicycle passes along Lashine canal, pedestrians
were marginalized to improvised pathways, forced to walk on the bicycle path in
a bad weather that endangers their lives. The scale of making streets, parks,
squares, roads, even whole neighborhoods completely inaccessible for
pedestrians is unprecedented. In private conversations and in their blogs
aggressive youths from wealthy families, who’s lobbying their privilege to kill
pedestrians and bicyclists were probably correct about suggestion that Trembley’s
administration is on their side.
“Montrealers are desperate for more concrete solutions to improve pedestrian safety on city streets” - wrote Kristin MORENCY in The Gazette on Wednesday, August 23, 2006. "(Motorists) don't stop, they go through red lights," Snowdon resident Fernand Brown said in an interview before the meeting. "People can't get across on a green light without being killed."
“Brown said a man in her neighbourhood was struck and killed two years ago by a car running a red light. Brown, who lived in California for more than 30 years, where she said drivers "will stop the second a pedestrian puts their foot down on the street," called the situation for pedestrians in Montreal "revolting."
"People get killed by cars and it's considered an accident. I think it's criminal."
“Louis Drouin of the Montreal public health department told the hearing that an average of five pedestrians are injured each day as a result of unsafe roads.”
"It's hard to be a pedestrian in Montreal," he said. "People have to change their habits."
“Stefanie Tremblay, from the Conseil regional de l'environnement de Montreal, said the city must take action.” Syberpress.ca: “Saturday, March 18, 2006: Pedestrian
rights to be established : Montreal's getting a charter of pedestrian rights,
but I'd ask first why existing laws aren't respected: many motorists, for
example, ignore the straight arrow lights and turn into intersections full of
pedestrians anyway, and nobody tickets them.” “Most pedestrians are killed while on the
roadway, vs. being on a sidewalk or on an island in the roadway. Most
fatalities occur at intersections”. (Auto-Free Zone, December 1996, N 17). “… drivers speeding or rolling toward
pedestrians in a crosswalk (vs. coming to a full stop), using the horn - or the
long radii at corners that reduce drivers' needs to slow down when turning. In
fact, there were several cases where conflicts between left-turning motorist
and pedestrians was resolved by removing the crosswalk and posting a sign
banning pedestrian crossings there. The result of the defensive driving credo
in a road population of people and vehicles with widely varying capabilities
and inherent protections, is to invert the traditional hierarchy of modes -
walking first and largest, fastest vehicles at the bottom - which corresponds
to the level of danger the vehicle poses to others - to something akin to the
"law of the jungle". USA violence tradition, and their highest
in the world road accident mortality (almost 50 thousands deaths annually, with
1000 fatalities among children-pedestrians; 6 million crashes, according to the
NHTSA; the leading cause of death in children and young adults - cost the
country an estimated $230.6 billion a year; together with an enormous social
injustice connected to pedestrians’ deaths) tend to contribute to declining of
Canadian road culture. “Erica Cadieux, a 34-year-old mother of two, was hit on Beaconsfield Blvd. while pushing 18-month-old Bianca in a stroller.
The child escaped unscathed, but Erica ended up at the Montreal General Hospital in a coma and on life support.
The driver, whose car jumped on to the sidewalk, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death. However, he wasn’t given a palpable prison term.
Diane Lauzon, 42, a mother of three, is due
back in court on Feb. 14 for her preliminary hearing.” (The Gazette, Montreal, 2006)
An outraged
habit of many of Montreal’s
drivers is when they exercise a sudden and dangerous move towards pedestrians
just to scare them, aspiring fear on their faces with pleasure and amusement.
If you think that on the trottoirs, pavements or sidewalks you’re safe, it’s
wrong. Montreal drivers use the
sidewalks as a mean to change the direction, instead of a U-turn, rolling on
people. They run on the sidewalks when parking, they completely ignore
pedestrians when moving from parking lots, backyards, or backstreets. You can
get killed on a sidewalk near your home, in a park, anywhere. To be
objective, one must admit that some positive changes are already on track. During
1-2 last years many drivers (like people who share my views) commonly changed
their attitude towards pedestrians and other traffic participants. They became
more flexible and polite, and cars, patiently waiting for passing pedestrians, will
not extinct. This is a spontaneous people’s movement, not a governmental or
municipal initiative. Unfortunately, governments on all levels, provincial,
federal, or municipal: continue to see people vs cars as hunted animals, which
you can hunt with a license to kill. In spite of the
growing number of drivers, who regret their former rage against pedestrians, feeling
remorse and understanding that enough is enough, pedestrians’ safety didn’t
improve. It became even worse. Other drivers, even if they now in minority, became
far more mad and irrational in their anger against pedestrians, and these, who
desire to scare, harm, injure or kill a pedestrian just for fun, also turned
more aggressive and, in the same time, confident about their impunity. Growing
drivers’ politeness in general, forming an illusive security at one point, narcotize
pedestrians and compromise their attention, and they become easier victims of the
drivers-killers. Instead of issuing fines and administrative punishments, or
even prison terms for pedestrian’s abusers, the government is now attacking
pedestrians, who cross the street at non-authorized places. Obviously, it’s
more secure to cross the street just anywhere, but not at crosswalks, and certainly
not on the green light. Statistics states that most pedestrians are getting
killed while crossing on green. You can never guess driver’s next move in Montreal, his or her intentions; they are
unpredictable. Therefore, it is much safer to cross the street before or after
a running car, because you can estimate car’s speed and distance, while it’s
useless to estimate, what the driver of an approaching to pedestrian pass car has
on mind. If someone is going to be killed when trying to cross a busy road,
these drivers, who provoked fear to cross on green, are responsible. Before
fining pedestrians, police has to ensure their safety on crosswalks. Feather
(pedestrian) is merely coursed by police directly on hunter’s (driver’s) ambush
(which is a crosswalk). Perpetum hunting season continues. For years,
roads in Quebec, and, to
certain degree, in whole Canada,
were almost unguarded by the traffic police, and 20 years before it worked just
fine. More police in out cities, more surveillance cameras and terrorizing /
scary police-military presence: more crimes are committed. It’s an axiom. Not a
lack of police presence, but wealthy car owners’ ability to corrupt the system,
and their impunity has misbalanced a unique and fragile public consensus. The
bad government, especially, Mulroney government, pushed the whole road safety colossi
to hell. So many drivers and passengers are killed presently on national roads
that such a country as Canada,
with its very modest population density, has chances to become completely
unpopulated, as after a devastating war. When just 1 week took away lives of
one hundred drivers and passengers, and three hundreds others left badly
injured only in Quebec, the
police finally received orders to crack on speeding and drunk drivers. Road
police APPEARED. However, all police patrols were concentrated mainly on
highways and major traffic arteries. Nothing is done for PEDESTRIANS’ safety,
and the license to kill is still legitimate. Again, to be
honest, one must admit that pedestrians in Montreal are not angels. Some of them rudely abuse polite drivers, and they know
how to do it in a very mean and sophisticated manner. However, this hostility
was started by the drivers, not pedestrians. It is also true that any
pedestrian, good or bad, is risking his / her life, when a driver will not be
killed by a pedestrian crossing on red. In some
countries with heavy police road patrols and considerably high level of
pedestrians’ safety the traffic police became a very serious problem itself. Corrupted,
hungry for bribes, road policemen commit thousands of daily crimes, from fining
innocent drivers, to killing other participants of road accidents, and from extorting
money, to chasing cars that violated no rules. And yet, from humanitarian point
of view, it is still less devastating then the situation in Montreal. Medieval feudal aristocratic privilege to kill serfs, revived on Canadian roads by people in purple armchairs, and reassured by leaders like Mulruney and Harper, is feasting its bloody carnival tradition.
Cannibalistic
and horrific governmental policy of giving drivers a privilege to kill, injure
and abuse pedestrians is a calc from everlasting Middle Eastern feudalism. It
was imported together with primitive, rude and vulgar road culture from Israel, from Israel via United States,
and from US alone. In the 1980s
Israelis were killing and beating each other for spaces at parking lots,
squashing pedestrians at crosswalks, and driving fiercely with no rules and
mercy. The State of Israel, an aggressive colonial regime, hungry for canon-fodder,
has started to loose soldiers and potential soldiers not on battlefields, but
on its own roads. That’s why approximately in 1992 they reformed road police
functions, gave traffic patrollers more power, and reorganized their system of
pedestrians’ safety. Amazingly, all these heavy measures did not assure
drivers’, passengers’, and pedestrians’ security, and quarrels, brawls, savage
fighting, ruddiness, abuse of pedestrians continue in Israel despite all the
fines and criminal charges. With an
increasing domination of the Jewish influence in Canadian politics, this poor
road culture was imported to Canada in the end of 1980-s and beginning of 1990-s, and since then shaped
itself as an ethnic and social abuse. The reason I mention an “ethnic abuse” is
because in the Jewish neighborhoods (and the Jewish leaders persistently,
meticulously, and sometimes aggressively are forming Jewish ghettos in
“anti-ghettos”, “ethnic ghettos free” Montreal) crosswalks are equipped by
pedestrians’ safety fences and “dragon’s teeth”; speed in residential,
shopping, and even industrial areas is restricted to 30 or sometimes 20 km / h;
green lights for pedestrians stay considerably longer then in non-Jewish
neighborhoods; and so on. Road police in the Jewish areas in Outremont, Westmount, Hampstead, etc., is visibly present, and assure pedestrians’
safety. Life of a Jew in Canada
is much more valuable then the gentiles’ lives: just in obedience to Jewish
Talmudic doctrine. This September,
going down from luxury and historical neighborhood around Oratoria St.-Josef, we
took a wrong street, and came to a strange and deserted area near Montreal’s main synagogue. We met no cars
since we turned left from La Boulevard. Half-real figures in all black, like ghosts, were moving in the
darkness from East to West, along quiet and deserted narrow streets with old
and surrounded by trees private houses. They walked both pavements and roads,
looking as somnambulas, out of space and time. They were only the men, with no
woman in sight. With unnatural and inhuman, but peaceful and tranquilizing
smiles on their faces, in small groups, they walked as through time, unreal in
modern environment, happy and quiet, like vampires after a satanic orgy. Seeing
our car, they splashed their hands, tossed around, as frightened crows, clearly
disturbed and worried. Our appearance destroyed the magic of that enchanted
atmosphere of out space timelessness, wizards’ obstinate work, a sense of an
isolated, hidden in a shell world. Interestingly, they did not express
individual feelings. We could sense their collective emotions as if it was only
one soul incarnated into hundreds of bodies. One could clearly sense that
soul’s surprise, not yet anger, as a reaction on our appearance. They were
confident that no one will disturb them; no stranger, no police vehicle, no car
should appear in their world. Next day I learned that it was Jewish main
holiday, “Yom Kieper”. Without knowing, why, I sensed a taste of blood im my
mouth, and also sensed an approaching danger. In Israel, they try to preserve this
segmentation of space, slicing their cities to separated and autonomic worlds. Very expensive,
complicated, multilevel, non-comfortable, with bus prices ranging from stop to
stop, and Haifa’s Metro (subway, built by the British before WWII) that was
devastated by Israelis, and partially restored (rather as attraction) only in
the XX century, public transportation system in Israel is not a product of
spontaneous socio-economic development. No, it’s certainly a philosophy, a
doctrine, with its entire coherency. Of course, public transportation is a very
specific thing, and how to evaluate it - depends on our subjective judgment.
That’s why some observers claim that Israeli public transport by accessibility,
convenience and other factors can be compared with specific South European
countries. However, in this judgment we must take into consideration that the Israeli State’s dependence on tenth (or even hundreds?) of thousands solders’ daily
transportation is subliming a clear picture, and - when removing this element -
we could come to a very different conclusion. There are also very specific to
Israel (as a Jewish state) subversions, like no buses on Jewish Sabbath (Saturday),
especially to Jewish ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods, separate buses for men and
women (which even the hardest Islamic regimes mostly avoiding), kosher food
inspection, wide abuse of non-Jews, and very rude behavior of passengers and
drivers, quarrels and fights on board the buses. Because I
studied this problem separately from the present short work, I came to a
conclusion that European-oriented public transport system in North America, which
shaped itself in the end of XIX and beginning of XX centuries, was later
destroyed and replaced by a pro-Jewish, ideologically and practically oriented
on Jewish financial and economic elite’s desires and needs.
Domination of vehicles on the streets of North American cities, priority and privileges of the drivers that are overlapping rights of the pedestrians: this monstrous social evil indicates sharp recoil to Middle Ages, when a feudal lord could squash under horses’ hoofs, lame and in every possible way torture his serfs slaves. Cars - as a cause of death of Canadians younger than 25 y. o. - share first place with malignant tumors, and - concerning children of school age - have left all other factors far behind. In Canada every 1 of 10 children younger the 14 y. o. inevitably becomes a victim of a road accident. 74 percents of accidents, in which children are hit by cars, happen in less than half-kilometer zone from their homes (that explains social selectivity of cars-murderers (or, to be correct, drivers-murderers (“Tire Dust” - Peter Montague Rachel's Environment and Health Weekly, N 439).
In North
America private transport began to
dominate the streets in result of blasting activity of huge transnational
corporations (such, as General Motors, headed by Haim Crossman) that purchased
trolleybus, tram and bus lines, systems of suburban electric trains, etc., and
then destroyed them to receive super profits from their sales of automobiles.
The trolley buses and trams, most ecologically acceptable, were thrown out on a
dump; many lines of suburban trains and railway branches - demounted, and the
construction of new ones was curtailed. So Montreal, a capital
of trams, was completely stripped of them, and public transport has come to
decline. Overwhelmed by private vehicles, Montreal was condemned for building
enormous traffic-circles, innumerous highways, elevated roads, tunnels,
bridges, parkings, multilane roads, multilevel transportation arteries, etc. Transportation
ways took innumerous attractive terrain strips from the city; created ugly,
“Martian” neighborhoods; destroyed beautiful city views, many historical and
architectural treasures; uprooted thousands of trees and demolished parks... Instead
of uniting people and bring them closer to each other, roads became as dividing
as natural obstacles (rivers, mountains, etc.), slicing cities to separated
segments, blocking access to neighborhoods. This Monster of Transportation is
sucking blood from human society, socially, economically, and structurally
impoverishing us. It could be very different, if public transportation became a
priority, as in some European cities. A monstrous economic burden of constantly
expanding transportation system became too big for Montreal to deal with. Maintenance and construction of roads costs the city
more then could allow its resources. This is why its canals’ and port’s, river’s
and lake’s embankments are cheap and ugly, architectural and cultural treasures
are destroyed or improperly restored, and many historical complexes are rusty. Transportation
system became too huge to digest. Plans to charge drivers for passing some
bridges and roads will not solve the problem, and people on high positions know
this. One year ago a bridge in Laval fell down, crashing cars and killing motorists. This is just one in
a series of similar accidents. An alternative is to restore public
transportation to the extent of European level. Presently, public
transportation becomes more and more expensive for commuters, takes more and
more time, and 30 or 45, or 60 min. gap between previous and next bus is not
acceptable for a modern city. Buses sometimes go empty because of this, and
also because of a number of other reasons. They are often late or pass too
early, or don’t arrive at all; they are dirty, unsafe, up to extreme overloaded
in peak hours, and - comparing to European, Russian, or Chinese buses - are a
striking anachronism. New Metro stations don’t attract passengers because of a
special tariff. Even 10 year ago public transport in Montreal was strikingly different, not
overloaded at all, clean, secure, and accessible. A heavy, extreme and very offensive surveillance in the Metro, enormous police and Metro Police presence, cameras, mounted in 5 cm. from your face, “war-time” security regulations do not help to increase number of travelers. Authorities send their policemen and install millions of video cameras not because they care about us and want to protect us from terrorists. They afraid that the places of huge concentration of the masses could become ways for non-sanctioned ideas and reservoirs of dissent. Police and cameras are placed to prevent defenders of national interests, activists of social justice, opponents of the present totalitarian regime to propagate the truth and organize people. Down in the Metro, people have a taste of a prison, and only the most marginalized travel by Metro. Many citizens decided to boycott the Metro for above mentioned reasons. And, of course, Metro is not functioning perfectly. Permanent repairing, construction and renovation works, permanently closed escalators, constantly delayed trains and often closed lines: for increasing price passangers get less and less. And this, again, refers to special “security measures”. More and more expensive cameras, security agencies like “Israguard” and “Garda”, face-ID digital recognition system, “security” infrastructure, and other totalitarian tools not only aggressively violate our human / civil rights, but derive a significant part of our financial and economic resources. It is such a huge “part of a pie” that if returned back to civil society, it could repair all social and economic bleaches like inhuman conditions in emergency rooms, public transportation, or social housing.
Representative and choice of dominated
Jewish financial elite, mayor Trembley is the most corrupted, antinational and
big-business-oriented mayor in Montreal’s history. During last Israeli aggression in Lebanon, mayor was invited by Christian
Lebanese community to a mourning mess to remember children, killed by Israeli
aggression. He declined the invitation, pretending that he’s very busy, but
instead attended Jewish ultra-nationalists’ gathering near Israeli embassy,
where rabbis with mad eyes shouted from the podium: “We MUST kill their
children, potential terrorists. By killing a Palestinian child you’re saving
life of a Jewish child!” When Charest provincial government (and now
the federals of Steven Harper, too) decided to finance (100 percent!) private
Jewish schools (not Russian, not Muslim, not Catholic, not Chinese, but
Jewish!) mayor Trembley sounded very positive about this. While all other
hospitals suffer from tremendous shortage of financing, the Montreal Jewish
Hospital is receiving billions from municipal, provincial, and, probably,
federal administrations, enormously expanding, building new pavilions, buying
new equipment. This “feast during a plaque” is built on our suffering,
deprivation and discrimination. Governmental donations to the state of Israel,
to Jewish private schools, Jewish hospitals, Jewish libraries, not supported by
majority of taxpayers, and Jewish privileges on top of all other groups’
discrimination. Jewish ritual “eruv”, with which they surrounded several
neighborhoods, where many Christians live, was a source of dispute between
Christians and Jews, but the mayor, the Court, and Charest government supported
Jews, not Christians. Jewish religious rights were placed above religious and
civil rights and freedoms of all other groups and citizens to such a degree
that removal of crosses from old Christian belfries, hustling of gyms and clubs
to cover their windows if a synagogue appears to be nearby, closure of churches
neighboring with synagogues, or their demolition became automatically
authorized and enforced by the authorities. Dozens of burned churches, and, among them,
old and historically (artistically) important, and savagely vandalized
Christian cemeteries (hundreds of tombs’ monuments were turned over): it’s a
tema for a separate essay. Trembley supported landlords’ unfair and
drastic rental prices augmentation that expelled thousands of hundreds of
individual and family members from downtown and from Montreal in general, causing a devastative socioeconomic effect. Rental
boards became as pro-landlords as never before. Simultaneously, under Trembley
administration social housing was abandoned, and to a certain degree quietly
replaced by so called logement abordable, with rental prices very close to
regular. As I heard, Trembley ordered, or, at least,
silently approved monstrous placards on houses’ wall that glorifying police,
secret services, prison guards, and “security agents”. My friends gave a
special name to this campaign: Canada - A Police State. Ex-mayor Burque and many activists claimed
that Trembley has “elected himself”, meaning wide spread fraud and criminal
manipulations with the election bulletins. Burque appealed to the Federal
Court, claiming that he must be a winner in municipal elections. Then something
very strange happened. All information on this issue was suppressed, and no
newspaper wrote about the outcome of Burque’s appeal to the Federal Court, and
its’ details. Trembley must be perfectly aware that the
city can not maintain the present grotesquely expanded and augmented
transportation system, and that the solution to this is only one: an accessible
public transportation, with restoration of trams and trolley buses, abolition
of presently established different Metro tariffs, and more frequent buses
circulation. Rusted bridges, dangerously decayed platforms and elevated
highways, tunnels that may collapse, burying cars and motorists under their
fragments, bad roads that could put in shame developing countries: this all is
a result of a long lasted ideological policy. Instead of acting with logic and consideration,
Trembley sticks to traditional road repairing policy, which under his
leadership became most devastated. Hundreds of road reconstruction projects
were started simultaneously, turning life of montrealers into nightmare. No
terrorist network could inflict such catastrophic consequences for city’s
economy and social life. Many of the road projects are unnecessary or even worse
then the roads they replace. A classical example of such mismanagement is a
reconstruction of Decarie from Metro Du College to Metro Cote-Vertue. It was a
cute cozy boulevard, with parking spaces in the middle, and unusual for Montreal mosaic pavements. The road was in
a good shape, and didn’t need any replacement. The new project didn’t increase
the road capacity, didn’t improve anything, only destroyed previous local
environment. Why then millions and (in long term) billions of dollars have been
extorted from the city, and store owners, public transportation passangers, and
the wide public experience such a devastating discomfort? Any one, who will
look at this through a clear lens, will smell fraud and super big scale
corruption. Multiple and big construction projects supply to the municipal
staff a unique and relatively secure opportunity to steal very big money. We
may fairly suspect that Trembley and his people robber Montreal and its population as no one robber this city before. We can only guess in whose pockets goes the money.
Since the accident, I’m thinking, how it
could happen. NEVER in my life in Montreal had I crossed the way of standing car, which waiting to turn. A
touch of sorcery, disturbing and magnetizing, is hanging in air. Murders of Rabin and Sharon, preceded by
rabbis-cabbalists’ sacerdotal rituals, a “burning birch” prey, and other
mystical traditions of ancient priests came to my mind. What could push me to cross that damn
street in that moment and in that time? I wrote a dozen essays on pedestrians’
discrimination in Montreal, and
I suspected every driver in malicious intentions. Why THIS (and ONLY) time I
acted so differently? And why this unique for me move was hunted down by the
Destiny? A wizard’s imagination is drawing his enemy on bicycle, moving up
unattractive evening sidewalk, along Decarie, with its busy road and the abyss
of the highway somewhere down, that cuts the entire perpendicular street, which
opens to Decarie, dying right here. This malicious imagination, penetrating
driver’s mind, is simultaneously pushing forward a bicyclist, and a car, towards
each other. On the 6-th of October, after having above mentioned ultrasound test done, I came home, and mobilized myself to this story. Describing what happened with me, I went mentally through the crash and pain, and anger again and again, and going to bed I discovered a growing hemorrhage as a fresh appeared bruise on internal side of my right foot. The foot wasn’t injured. It was a fresh bleeding in the calf that from there descended to the foot area. Before this I felt much better, and even could walk as if nothing happened. Since that evening till the next evening of fresh bruises of the bone have shown up, as though for this period of time my leg has become a photographic paper developing in a photo laboratory. Redness and blueness of the hit places, as well as the pain, materialized on the fifth day? Incredibly! And every bone in my body, checked scrupulously and systematically in ER, and still, manifested no bruises or pain? Myself, on the 2 and 3 of October, I felt all my bones, and was absolutely sure, that not fibula or a shine-bone were untouched by impact, having no bruises or fractures. Before 6th of October these bone didn’t disturbed me at all. An unknown malicious force materialized the accident once again, taking it from my mind, and injuring my leg again.
How to reverse its course, how to undo what
happened? A permanent struggle between good and evil
is always alive. And we are the witnesses.
